Although many assignments are coming during this period, keeping up with this weekly post will still be my priority. So, today I will introduce to you a Japanese restaurant which serves delicious Tonkotsu Ramen near Swinburne University.
As you know that winter is coming to Melbourne, so the weather is really cold now. Because of that, I decided to go to Hakata Gensuke restaurant with my friends two days ago in order to taste a hot and delicious Ramen bowl. It was the first time I came here but it was out of my imagination due to its delicious food.
There are four places where you can find this brand in Melbourne:
- 168 Russell Street, Melbourne 3000 Victoria.
- Shop 4, 860 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn 3122 Victoria.
- Westfield Doncaster Shop FC8, 619 Doncaster Road Doncaster 3108 Victoria.
- Constance Stone Lane, 200 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne 3000 Victoria
(These two images are the restaurant located in Hawthorn. It takes 10 mins walk or 3 mins tram from Swinburne University)
I visited this restaurant on a rainy day, so it looked like very cozy when I got in. As it was a lunchtime, I and my friends had to wait up to 7 mins. I really love this place since I could have a great view once I took a seat near the door.
It was to say that customer service here was great because their lovely and attentive staffs are always greeting you in Japanese. Moreover, there was a $20 combo, including 1 ramen, 1 side dish and 1 drink. I ordered Black Tonkotsu for a ramen, Hakata Gyoza for a side dish and an apple juice for a drink.
(The left image is the combo I’ve mentioned and the right one is what I ordered)
After waiting 10 mins, the meal was finally served to my table. It was so hot and so delicious. I felt like the heat of Black Tonkotsu Ramen warmed me up in the cold of autumn once I tasted it. It was a memorable moment!
Black Tonkotsu Ramen: The broth is the combination of fried garlic and black sesame paste. Its flavors are intense and full of very well balanced flavors. It is topped with homemade thin noodles, tender pork cha-shu, black fungus and spring onions. It sounds like delicious! I cannot wait to taste it again!
Hakata Gyoza: It is the Hakata style bite-size dumplings, pan-fried served with citrus pepper. It is of a decent standard, but I still love its flavor due to its simplicity.
Due to its delicious Ramen, affordable price, great atmosphere place and cozy decorations, I highly recommend this place if you would like to taste any Ramen in Melbourne. I rate this Japanese restaurant 4.5 and I will definitely go back for more!
