What makes your heart sing?

I’ve been talking to many people for a year living in Melbourne. During small talk, I observed each specific thing once they were telling a story about themselves. Therefore, I know that many people usually estimate themselves by the amount of money as well as the noise of other people around them.

This is because they’re taught by the education that teaches students how to get a stable job and earn money as much as possible after graduation, rather than guide them to figure out their talent. Moreover, people care too much about opinions around them. This is because they’re not being taught how to step out of their comfort zone and think out of the box.

When I asked my friends the reason why they chose to learn computer science degree, the majority of them told that they heard from other people that this would help them make more money in the future. Then, I again asked them if they already planned for the major they would study next semester. Many of them answered my question without any knowledge of what they’re going to study in the major they chose. This is because they’re not aware of what they actually like and they want to be secure under the opinions of people around them.

By telling this story, I want to let you know that your choice shows what you truly are far more than your abilities. Therefore, if you believe you’re doing the right thing, you should ignore the noise around you. Not only that, you should measure your life through what makes your heart sing instead of the amount of money or owning stuff.
